The Tarlton-Gilbane joint venture provided preconstruction and construction services for this major research building on Pfizer’s Chesterfield campus. In 30 months, the team completed the new 7-level facility to house 250 researchers in 60-plus laboratories, both wet and dry.
A 4-story 167,000 sf glass curtain wall tower with labs and offices connects the new facility to adjacent research buildings. The three lower levels house mechanical spaces, labs and surgery facilities. With 860,000 pounds of sheet metal, the project was one of the largest sheet metal jobs in the St. Louis area. Extensive planning kept surrounding buildings fully operational throughout construction.
